Susan Kavanaugh - Managing Director

Over the last 20 years Susan has been a key contributor at Fort Ashford where she provides project management and strategic direction, for acquisitions in multi-family, retail, and industrial real estate, technology, and defense. In addition to world class development and project management skills, she offers insight and leadership into cultural and operational issues of our portfolio investments, and has served as senior management in several portfolio companies. Her greatest expertise is her knowledge and commitment to employees and customers. Her ability to communicate clearly and bring her extensive knowledge and experience in these areas has made her central to our success in real estate, and restructuring projects.


Susan has worked in the technology industry for over 30 years. She started her career at IBM as a Systems Engineer, and moved to Microsoft where she served as a Corporate Account Executive supporting key customers including Boeing, McDonnell Douglas, Hughes, Rockwell and other leading Defense, Aerospace & Technology companies. Susan holds a Bachelors in Business Administration with a minor in Computer Science from Loyola Marymount University in L.A. having graduated in 1985.

Dominic Iocco - Managing Director

Dominic is an experienced entrepreneur, with success in multiple industries, from manufacturing to education to feature films. At Fort Ashford Dominic applies his diversified expertise by managing operations and communications.


Dominic has more than 15 years of entrepreneurship experience having served as founder, chief executive officer or chief financial officer in manufacturing, recycling, e-waste, and electronic financial services. He has also served as Provost of John Paul the Great Catholic University where he produced an award-winning feature film with industry professionals and students. Dominic holds a BA in Outdoor Education from Central Michigan University and an MBA in E-Business from the University of Phoenix. He’s focused on helping organizations operate and communicate more effectively.

Frank Kavanaugh - Managing Director

Frank is strong in investing experience and public microcap markets, deep in his commitment to educate and finance the next generation of corporate and global leaders. He has a proven track record of understanding the human aspects of performance within small enterprise and seeing businesses as holistic systems. At Fort Ashford, Frank’s role is building relationships with individuals and organizations that facilitate growth, transformation and innovation.


Frank has worked in executive positions and operational management roles at major corporations such as Microsoft and Hewlett Packard. He has also founded Inc 500 companies and is perhaps best known for growing his own company, Force Protection Inc., from less than $1 Million to over $1 Billion company in just six years. Frank holds a BS in Information and Computer Science from UCI and an MBA from Pepperdine University.

Lorrie Miller

Lorrie Miller has almost 15 years of experience in providing audit and assurance services to publicly and privately held companies in real estate, manufacturing, consumer products and employee benefit plans.  In addition, she has extensive experience in management and business advisory services.


Lorrie’s career started with a local firm that specializes in providing services to nonprofit and governmental entities including foundations, A-133 single audits, special districts, insurance authorities and cities.  In 2005, she joined a large regional firm as a senior in the audit department where she managed several of the firm’s large audit clients on varying industries.  In 2009, she then transitioned into the consulting department where she was an integral part of the day to day operations of the department and was involved in most of the department’s bankruptcy, litigation and forensic accounting cases. She collaborated with various counsels to develop and implement a comprehensive reorganization plan and to maximize recoveries from companies/individuals that have filed for bankruptcy or insolvency.  She has worked with companies/investors/individuals that have an interest in a development project to determine if homebuilders have calculated the revenues, costs and profit on a project in compliance with certain governing agreements. In addition, she has experience in evaluating the operations of a business and provides ways on how to expand the business, from adding new locations or streamlining their processes to maximize their profits and efficiency.
